From JR Ashiya, it is a 13 minute train ride to JR Osaka station, and a 7 minute train ride to Kobe/Sannomiya station. There are 142 parks dotted in the city, and each park has its own charm and delight, such as waterfront scenes or many species of flowers blooming in season.

  • The Ashiya Koza Waterfalls

    It is within about 2 kilometers of Mimilocco and a good destination for a hiking taking about 30 or 40 minutes. You may reach the summit of Mt. Rokko ranges if you hike via Koza Waterfalls and the Rock Garden.

  • Tekisui Museum of Art

    It is located about 20 minutes’ walk from Mimilocco. There are about 1,500 antique works of art (potteries, dolls, cards, and so on) displayed, which have been collected by Mr. Kichirobe YAMAGUCHI who used to be the president of Yamaguchi bank. The building used as the museum of art has been renovated from his former house, and it has been selected as one of the 20 Architectures of Kansai Modernism. A pottery class is offered occasionally in the building.

  • Yodoko Guest House

    It was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, one of the great masters in the modern architecture. The building stands on a small hill surrounded by trees, and it has been established as one of the national important cultural assets in 1974, and it has been opened to the public since 1989. About 25 minutes’ walk from Mimilocco.

  • Arima hot spring resort

    Arima is one the best and oldest hot spring resort in Japan and lies in natural surroundings. It is a good tourist spot where you can enjoy a walk in a tasteful atmosphere, soaking yourself in a hot spring, and dining delicious specialties. It is about 80 minutes by train or about 30 minutes by car.

  • Kyoto

    You can make a day trip to Kyoto from Mimilocco. It is about 60 minutes by train or by car. Every corner of Kyoto is perfect for pictures. As well as visiting temples and shrines, Kyoto cuisine is also one of the delights.

  • Mt. Koya

    It is a Buddhist sacred place deep in the mountain, known for its holy atmosphere. You can experience staying at “Shukubo” or a guest house kept by the temple, taking such monk trainings as eating vegetable dishes and chanting practice in the morning. It is about 160 minutes by train or about 120 minutes by car.

  • Shinsekai or new world and Tsutenkaku tower in Osaka

    The area is a kind of old-fashioned town with something nostalgic and is well known for the specialty of “kushikatsu” or skewered roasted cutlet and “doteni” or thickly cooked internal organs, and you can experience very unique part of Osaka. It is about 40 minutes by train or about 35 minutes by car.

  • Nara

    Nara, an ancient capital of olden Japan, is abundant in old temples and shrines and its streetscape with a composed atmosphere will ease your mind. It is about 60 minutes by train or car.

  • Ise-shima region

    It is about 150 minutes east of Mimilocco either by train or by car. It is said that there are 125 shrines in this region, and the highlight of the sights in this region is the Grand Shrine of Ise, which is a must see for the Japanese.

  • Himeji-jo castle

    It is about 60 minutes west of Mimilocco either by train or by car. It has been designated both a national treasure and important cultural asset. The main parts of the building such as castle-keeps and turrets still exist, though they date back to early Edo period (in 1600’s).

  • Lake Biwa

    It is about 120 minutes north of Mimilocco by train or about 90 minutes by car. It is the largest lake in Japan. A panoramic view of the lake from “Lake Biwa Terrace” is worth seeing.

  • Shirahama region in Wakayama prefecture

    It is about 180 minutes southwest of Mimilocco by train or about 120 minutes by car. The region is visited by many tourists for a clear water beach, hot springs, or fresh seafood. The pandas in Adventure World is getting highly popularity.
