Sapporo in winter

Sapporo Snow Festival had been held online again this year due to the spread of new corona virus variants.

I was very disappointed that I could not see the magnificent snow sculptures on the Odori venue.

But anyway, I flew to Sapporo to see my family and enjoyed the taste of Hokkaido in winter time.

I found unique snow sculptures on the tree in Maruyama Park. Aren’t they cute?

Illuminations in Odori Park were fantastic, too.

Next day, Sapporo hit a record-breaking snowfall and the whole city was covered with snow.

JR lines were completely shut down and traffic to the airport was limited.

What would have happened if the Snow Festival had been held as scheduled in this weather?
